The cost varies, depending on residency status. Texas residents have a lower price than nonresidents. If a student is awarded the Dean’s of Excellence Scholarship, in addition to the $1,000 scholarship for the academic year (not per semester), they will also qualify for the Texas resident tuition rate, which can amount to significant savings.

The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) at UT Dallas is determined by the Office of Financial Aid each year and is based on the average costs students may incur each semester. Tuition and fees are based on several factors, including the number of credit hours taken and program-specific costs.

This is probably the most often-asked question. All Financial Aid and Scholarship questions are answered by the UTD Financial Aid Department.

International graduate students not eligible for need-based grants through UT Dallas. If you are provided with any scholarship, it will be mentioned in your Form I-20.

UT Dallas does not have its own loan program. If you would like to pursue a private education loan, you will need to select a lender and apply directly. While UT Dallas may be asked by the lender to confirm your are a student, the University is not otherwise involved in the process and cannot recommend any lender. The MSIE program is a total of 36 hours. Students choose how long they want to be in the MSIE program based on whether they want to attend summer courses. Upon entering the program, most students select 9 credit hours per semester to finish the MSIE in four semesters. In the first semester, some international students have to complete a one-credit-hour professional communication course. It’s possible to finish the MSIE program in three semesters; however, most students elect a four-semester plan.

We recommend planning your entire program while enrolling in your first semester at UTD. You will need to identify what courses are available each semester. Your Program Director and Advising Team can assist you with course selections.

Yes! Check out the many, many certificate programs UTD offers.

The application process is easy, just be prepared to pay your application fee and submit the required documents, such as your official transcript(s), a resume, personal/professional recommendations, and a personal statement (essay) telling UTD why you want to be admitted to the particular program you have chosen.

As long as you submit the online application and pay the application fee before the application deadline, you will be considered for admission. All documents must be submitted before you can be considered for financial aid, scholarships or admitted into the program. After all the documents are turned in, there is still a processing time of approximately four weeks. It is in your best interest to submit all your documentation as soon as possible.

Hint #1: Watch those deadlines for admission and scholarships. If you see they are due the same day, plan ahead. You must be admitted before you are considered for a scholarship!

Hint #2: If you do not get into your preferred program, because admission is very selective, do not be discouraged from pursuing a different grad degree. Look at all the amazing UTD grad programs and choose a second choice on your application.

If you are notified that you are not accepted to your preferred program, we recommend you submit another personal statement about why you would like to be considered for your second choice.
