Focus Areas

The MSIE degree offers two tracks to students, allowing them to customize their degree to a specific area of study.

New Venture Development

This track is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs aiming to launch and scale their own startups. Key features include:

Students can earn academic credit while developing their business ventures. Those with scalable concepts may access resources like office space in the university’s Venture Development Center and receive mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs.

Courses focus on innovation, entrepreneurial finance, business model innovation, technology and new product development, and market entry strategies.

Opportunities to engage in real-world projects, such as conducting due diligence for the UT Dallas Seed Fund and collaborating with major technology companies to analyze new market opportunities.

Corporate Innovation

This track caters to professionals interested in driving innovation within established organizations. Highlights include:

Courses cover managing innovation within corporations, technology and new product development, market entry strategies, and the corporate entrepreneurial experience.

Students work on projects that involve analyzing new market opportunities and developing strategies for innovation in corporate settings.

Prepares students for roles such as business development, project management, R&D, marketing, and corporate venture capital.
