Taking Opportunities as They Come
In April 2019, I had the amazing opportunity to represent the Society for Human Resource Management chapter at UT Dallas and the Jindal School’ s BS in Human Resource Management program, along with Shriya Bahri, Yen Dang and Nickole Selensky, at the 2019 TXSHRM Student Games, hosted by Baylor University.
Being that it was UTD’s first time participating, we were all unfamiliar with the games, and it wasn’t till days before that we found out that we would be participating in a jeopardy-style game format using questions from the SHRM-CP Certification exam.
Going into the competition, we thought we were vastly underprepared, but as we advanced each round to the finals and ended up taking first place, we realized that it was the knowledge we learned in our human resource management classes that prepared us for victory. It was this experience that made me realize how prepared the UTD human resource management program and SHRM chapter made me for a professional career in human resources.
